The Aftermath
After the attack on Darwin, half the population of the city fled fearing the worst. The fled South towards Adelaide river. At the RAAF base, many servicemen fled too. Due to the fact the everybody thought that Australia would fall to the power of the Japanese, just like Singapore did, the government announced that only 17 people had been killed. This censorship was to help lessen the panic and help the public to trust the Austrlian government and the defence force.
